The first annual Reef Champion competition is scheduled for 6 months and will run from March 1 - August 31, 2024. Monthly prizes will be awarded to the the following categories:
Barrier Reef Champ - Most reports Coral Champ - Reports on fields of Acroporids - elkhorn and staghorn, living pillar coral Lionfish Champ - Submits most culler lionfish Extraordinary Champ* - most unique report Photo Champ* - Best photo or video Grand Prizes Awarded at the end of the competition to all categories How to Participate Submit reports on your observations from the field Use the guidelines in the Belize Barrier Reef Watch targets Reports can highlight marine life or threats How your Participation Helps! Supports marine monitoring and conservation! COMPETITION GUIDELINES
All photographs, videos, and reports must be original submissions.
Reports can only be submitted once.
Historical reports are welcome and encouraged.
To be considered for MONTHLY and GRAND prizes, reports must be submitted in one of the following manners:
1. Using the Submit Report form on our website, or
2. Tag your photo using #reefchampion, #ecomar, or #belizebarrierreefwatch
3. By submitting your observation reports, you agree to allow ECOMAR to feature your photos promoting the diversty of the Belize Barrier Reef.
How ECOMAR will use submissions
Photographs, videos and reports will be used for an indefinite period of time for non-commercial purposes such as in printed materials, including the annual Belize Barrier Reef Watch Report, and in social media releases, and on our website.
All submitted media - photos and video - remains the property of the participant.
