The Action Camera Program was launched in 2022. The results of the program have been amazing! Fishers have reported living pillar coral, fields of acroporids - elkhorn and staghorn coral - and have submitted many reports from the field highlighting items on the Belize Barrier Reef Program's Watch List! |
Program Overview
The Action Camera Program will engage fishers in an initiative that will provide them with waterproof action cameras to record footage and pictures while visiting the reef. Participating fishers will be trained in the use of this equipment and will be expected to submit recorded footage and pictures along with their reports. Upon completion of the three month program, the participating fishers will keep the action camera and accessories. Program Objective Involve fishers in documenting reef health by providing them an opportunity to submit enhanced reports on reef health and visible outputs which can be interpreted by data handlers. Program Incentive Participating fishers will receive training in the use of the action cameras and will keep the action cameras once the pilot project has been completed. |
