Reef Champion SupporterAvailable for business and individuals who wish to support our efforts by making a donation. The donations will be used to support ongoing efforts and can be earmarked for a specific program, ie Belize Barrier Reef Watch List Category, Coral Watch, Lionfish, Turtle Watch, if desired.

CITIZEN SCIENTIST OPTIONS
Coastal ResidentsAvailable for marine guides, boat captains, coastal residents, students and visitors interested in submitting Watch List reports from the field. The Level of Commitment can be short term or long term.

Commercial FishersAvailable for licensed commercial fishers. Can Adopt A Reef area and submit reports from their fishing grounds. Honorary members are the fishers that participate in the Action Camera Program. Other fishers are encouraged to join and submit reports of Watch List items.

Sport FishersAvailable to sport fishers that target open ocean or flats and river fishing. Can be catch and release or catch and fillet. Sports fishers would submit reports of their catch or release including date, location and size if captured.

Visitors & VolunteersAvailable for volunteers visiting Belize. Can submit reports of Watch List items, including general reports, coral health, culling lionfish, submitting photos for sea turtle ID and conducting beach clean-ups. Students groups can consider conducting a fundraise before coming on their trip and make a donation to ongoing projects.

SCIENTIFIC RESEARCHERS
Scientific ResearchersAvailable to persons conducting scientific research in Belize and includes members of government and non-government organization, visiting professors and individual marine researchers. Scientific Researcher Reef Champions are encouraged to Adopt Dive & Snorkel Sites and share summary field reports of their findings. Pictures of the findings are requested to share in the Annual Report.

Tour OperatorAvailable for licensed tour operators interested in supporting reef conservation efforts on our Belize Barrier Reef! Recognized Tour Operators will sign up annually and can Adopt A Reef, or Adopt a Beach and submit regular reports.

ADOPTION OPTIONS
Adopt a Dive/Snorkel SiteThis is a long-term commitment available for resorts, dive centers, marine guides, commercial fishers, coastal residents, scientific researchers and NGOs interested in submitting regular reports on their adopted site. The reports can be of the Watch List items, including monitoring reef health, culling lionfish, submitting pictures of sea turtles, keeping the reef clean, and offering specialty course to raise reef awareness to their customers!

Adopt a BeachAvailable for resorts, private properties, park managers and NGOS that support turtle nesting. Sea turtles are protected in Belize and handling sea turtles requires special permission from the Belize Fisheries Department. Membership in the Adopt A Beach Program requires participants to attend a training on how to keep their beach turtle friendly and what types of data should be recorded from the turtles that use their beach.
