The winning entry submitted by Angelie Carillo portrays a turtle and on it's carapace the diverse types of marine life that can be found on the Belize Barrier Reef. The marine life makes up the Belize Barrier Reef "Watch List," which volunteers can submit reports!
Cooincidentally, ancient indian tribes from around the globe, have in common similiar creation stories of how the the world (and the reef!) was created on the back of a giant sea turtle. Angelie utilized the rainbow of colors that make up the iconic Belize sign, and the colors of the reef.
It is a simple, yet descriptive, illustration that portrays the goals of the Belize Barrier Reef Watch Program - protect the reef, because "d reef d protect all a we!"
